Short Course: HEP273-Forklift Operator (full)

This course utilizes Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to properly operate a forklift. In addition to safety best practices, participants receive hands-on opportunities to ensure each understands equipment-specific stability requirements, fork adjustment protocols, fueling procedures and other usage issues.

This course provides basic knowledge of lean process improvement. The importance of flow and the eight wastes that may be found within processes will be presented along with the Lean tools that can be used to eliminate that waste.

MAP021-Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Wk1: Aug. 22 – 26 ; Wk2: Sept. 19 – 23

This course provides entry-level to advanced operators with the concepts, objectives and safety practices used during the operation of skid steer machinery in construction zone settings of all types. During the course, information covering use and site issues are discussed surrounding building construction, road and highway construction, oil field operations and pipeline work.

Short Course: OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training for General Industry (full)

This course provides students with basic safety and health knowledge, including OSHA policies, procedures and standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are most hazardous. Upon completion, a wallet card will be issued certifying that the student has completed 30 hours of OSHA training for general industry.

Introduction to Robotics Hybrid Camp – Session 4 (full)

Introduction to Robotics Camp will provide students an introduction to robotics design, programming methods, input and output in a microcontroller. Students will have the opportunity to learn the programming basics in C++ and object-oriented programming, as well as learn more about Arduino Uno and Arduino Integrated Development Environment. This is a hybrid course that includes a 3-hour online component to be completed before the in-person 7-hour lab. The camp is open to students in grades 8-12 and/or robotics teams of any age.

Topics will include transitioning from technical expert to manager/leader, fundamental leadership skills, leveraging diversity, conduct and discipline, and promoting employee performance.

This course is offered in collaboration with Texas A&M training partner, Eagle Leadership.

Upon completion of this course, certificate candidates will obtain a strong understanding of continuous improvement vs. continual improvement, problem-solving skills to improve a work process as well as employee relations, job instruction targeted at standardization, effective communication and safety in the workplace.

Kata in the Classroom (full)

Kata in the Classroom (KIC) is a hands-on exercise to introduce the scientific pattern of the Improvement Kata in school classrooms. It is targeted at Middle School Science teachers, but is used in a variety of K-12 and even College educational settings. Kata in the Classroom involves the activity of assembling a 15-piece cardboard jigsaw puzzle several times, and experimenting with ways to do it faster.

Bleeding Control Basics (full)

This two-hour course includes a formal presentation and hands-on practice of direct pressure application, wound packing, and use of a tourniquet. The course was developed for a non-medical audience to address the needs of the immediate responder to control life-threatening bleeding until help arrives.
