Short Course: HEP273-Forklift Operator

This course utilizes Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to properly operate a forklift. In addition to safety best practices, participants receive hands-on opportunities to ensure each understands equipment-specific stability requirements, fork adjustment protocols, fueling procedures and other usage issues.

Short Course: Understanding OSHA’s Permit-Req Confined Space

This course covers the safety and health hazards associated with permit-required confined space entry. Course topics include recognizing confined space hazards, identifying permit and non-permit required confined spaces, instrumentation to evaluate atmospheric hazards, ventilation techniques, development and implementation of a confined space program, proper signage, and training requirements.

This course provides a comprehensive curriculum to enhance the skills of current and future first-line supervisors. Upon completion of this course, certificate candidates will obtain a strong understanding of continuous improvement vs. continual improvement, problem-solving skills to improve a work process as well as employee relations, job instruction targeted at standardization, effective communication and safety in the workplace.

Short Course: MAP007-Quick Changeover Single-Minute Exchange of Dies

This course is designed to help manufacturing employees learn about techniques to reduce process changeover times from one product to another. Specific techniques are discussed to reduce equipment downtime (waiting waste) caused by the changeover process, resulting in greater productivity and throughput.

This course provides students with basic safety and health knowledge, including OSHA policies, procedures and standards. Special emphasis is placed on areas that are most hazardous. Upon completion, a wallet card will be issued certifying that the student has completed 10 hours of OSHA training for general industry.

Short Course: MAP001-Total Productive Maintenance

This course will provide an overview of the four stages of implementation of the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program. TPM training introduces concepts geared toward maintaining equipment at its peak performance, thus reducing the occurrence of unexpected and catastrophic failures.

MAP021-Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Wk1: Aug. 22 – 26 ; Wk2: Sept. 19 – 23

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt provides a systematic approach to dramatically improve cost, quality and delivery by combining the strengths of today’s two most powerful business initiatives – Lean and Six Sigma – into one integrated program. The DMAIC process provides the overarching structure for project management, helping ensure solutions are sustainable.

Topics will include transitioning from technical expert to manager/leader, fundamental leadership skills, leveraging diversity, conduct and discipline, and promoting employee performance.

This course provides entry-level operators with instruction on the proper operation of a backhoe and/or loader. Traditional classroom training provides participants with safe work practices, an understanding of machine mechanical systems and operational techniques. Hands-on exercises provide students with operational skills development designed to ensure proper use of the equipment.

Short Course: HEP213-Skid Steer Operator

This course provides entry-level to advanced operators with the concepts, objectives and safety practices used during the operation of skid steer machinery in construction zone settings of all types. During the course, information covering use and site issues are discussed surrounding building construction, road and highway construction, oil field operations and pipeline work.

Introduction to Robotics Hybrid Camp – Session 4 (full)

Introduction to Robotics Camp will provide students an introduction to robotics design, programming methods, input and output in a microcontroller. Students will have the opportunity to learn the programming basics in C++ and object-oriented programming, as well as learn more about Arduino Uno and Arduino Integrated Development Environment. This is a hybrid course that includes a 3-hour online component to be completed before the in-person 7-hour lab. The camp is open to students in grades 8-12 and/or robotics teams of any age.

This course is designed to provide a template of components to utilize with any problem-solving effort. The Eight Disciplines of Problem-solving methodology and process are presented to model the proper sequencing and application of those important problem-solving components. Participants will learn how to develop containment actions and discuss the importance of root cause analysis and corrective action using automation, mistake or error proofing, and operator training.
